2021 marks the beginning of the second year for Riverside Amble Counselling Services. I spent the first few months of 2020 busily researching and setting up all of the aspects I needed to run it, and was prepared to launch it in March. Yes, March 2020... right when COVID-19 had made its presence known in Australia.
Instead of delving in to the Walk & Talk sessions I had originally planned for, I spent the first few months establishing the online counselling component of the business. I also fully embraced all the access I now had to so many professional development seminars that were being offered online. It was a very digital year, and I had to upgrade a lot of my hardware.
The second half of 2020 proved to be a lot more suitable for my outdoorsy counselling sessions. After parks and gyms reopened, which drew people away from using pathways for exercise, I was finally able to start offering Walk & Talk counselling sessions. It was great to finally be able to what I‘d set out to do!
After my first year of running Riverside Amble Counselling Services, and learning how to adapt and mould a business during a pandemic, I definitely feel empowered. I have a lot of enthusiasm for 2021, and I look forward to continuing to grow and establish my business.
Thanks everyone for reading my first blog post!
